We were thrilled to lead the Tench Tilghman Environmental Restoration Project to engage the Tench Tilghman Elementary/Middle School community to transform a 1,728 square foot asphalt courtyard into a native plant garden.
Between 2019-2022, Southeast CDC led a design process with stakeholders at Tench Tilghman and the surrounding community, in collaboration with our contractors, CityScape Engineering and EnviroCollab (landscape architects), and partners at Baltimore City Public Schools and Baltimore City Department of Public Works. The depave and construction of the garden was overseen by Blue Water Baltimore, with subcontracting support from Great Blue Co.
On Earth day 2022, 80 1st and 2nd grade students, along with 25 volunteers from the parent community gathered to help plant over 400 native perennials together. Thank you to our partners from Johns Hopkins University, Revival Hotel, ACLU, CityScape Engineering, and EnviroCollab for assisting!
