With funding from the Baltimore Regional Neighborhood Initiative, the Southeast CDC supported the renovation of the 219 N. Chester Street Community Center, which houses The Door and its Baltimore Urban Leadership Foundation. Improvements to the building include HVAC, roofing, and exterior façade upgrades including window perimeters, doors, and wood framing. The improvements will allow The Door to serve more families through its programs, especially through the summer when A/C is essential.
The Door addresses the needs of the CARE Community Association and connecting neighborhoods through youth activities, a food pantry, and community outreach. The Chester Street Community Center provides office and activity space to its on-site partners (CARE Community Association, Solid Rock Ministries, Birch Advisors, and Restoration Community Ministries).
