Location: 3134 Eastern Avenue, adjacent to the Creative Alliance
In 2013, The Southeast CDC hosted community Placemaking workshops at three community gathering hubs along the Highlandtown Main Street district. We asked community members what we could do to make our commercial district more vibrant, welcoming and accessible for them. Most of the resulting projects, including “BUS,” were co-designed by artists and community members.
“BUS” is a sculptural bus stop located in the Highlandtown Main Street district. The project was coordinated by the Southeast CDC and Creative Alliance. The sculpture was designed by mmmm…, a Madrid-based artist collective, and fabricated and installed by Tim Scofield. It has become an iconic spot for visitors to take their photo – even if they’re not waiting for the bus!
