Spring Brings Changes to our Main Street

Highlandtown Main Street has seen a lot of changes this spring...and there are still more to come! So far we've seen new sidewalks and ramps along Eastern Ave. Additional improvements include the repaving of Eastern Ave. as well as more trees and improved lighting, too!

We've got lots of wonderful events coming up over the next few months throughout the community. Be sure to add our Highlandtown Farmers' Market to your Thursday evening rounds starting June 21st! Check our calendar of upcoming events for more details on this and other activities.

Take the Homebuyer Education Class Online!

Thinking about buying a home in Baltimore City? Need a homebuyer education certificate to qualify for a loan but don’t have the time to attend a class in person?  Take this online class at your own pace - from the comfort and convenience of home. After it's completed, call the Southeast CDC at 410-342-3234 to schedule a one-on-one appointment with our housing counselors. Click here for the online class.

Donate to your community this year!

While you may not be in the habit of donating to a community development corporation, consider all the good things we do to improve the quality of life in Baltimore. This year, in our efforts to support diverse, dynamic and sustainable middle class City neighborhoods, we have:
  •  provided housing counseling for more than 500 clients, many of who are facing the loss of their homes through foreclosure.
  • collaborated with schools, non-profits, businesses and citizens to improve the environmental conditions of Southeast Baltimore through tree plantings, rain gardens and educational seminars.
  • provided loans, grants, and capital improvements to homeowners and neighborhoods in Southeast Baltimore.
  • brought Christmas back to Highlandtown; through holiday decorations, a Santa House (with painted screens!) and a wonderful train garden in the grand Baltimore tradition.
